Pu-Erh tea is traditionally made from the large leaves of ancient tea bushes and trees grown in Yunnan province in south west China.
Pu-Erh tea is available as loose leaf or as compressed cakes which continue to mature over time and so its value increases. It is said that connoisseurs are willing to pay top dollar for this rare tea.
Unlike other teas which should be consumed shortly after production, Pu-Erh can be aged for many years. In fact Pu-Erh teas are often classified by year and region much like wine and it is possible to find this particular tea as old as 50 years.
